Overreaction Monday: Can The Lions Make The Playoffs?
The Detroit Lions put the smackdown on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14, giving head coach Dan Campbell one of the biggest wins of his tenure.
One of the main reasons the Lions won this game was quarterback Jared Goff. Jared Goff was precise with his reads and not turning the football over. His connection with wide receiver DJ Chark was perfect, resulting in a forty-yard touchdown pass. Chark also recorded nearly one hundred yards in receiving.
Does this team have a chance to make the playoffs with Goff playing this season?
My answer has yet to be. Goff still has some work to do this season playing against the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and the Green Bay Packers.
If he continues to play at a high level, the Lions have a shot.
Is it an overreaction to say the Lions’ team is a top-ten NFL team?
No, it is not; the Lions’ defense has been playing better as of late, stopping quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence and Kirk Cousins in the last two weeks. Young players such as safety Kerby Joseph and linebacker James Houston are the reason why.
The Lions’ defense is playing well. They are making plays when needed on defense in crucial times. Their offense has continued to be one of the best in the league and has won five of their last six games.
Final Call
For the Lions to make the playoffs, they will need to win out for the rest of the schedule and for teams such as the New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and Seattle Seahawks to lose.
