Detroit Lions Training Camp Day 11 Observations
Lions’ training camp continues as they get closer to the regular season. Many observations took place in the Lions’ practice with the offense, defense, and special teams. In this Detroit Lions live stream by Lions Nation Unite, the panel talks about what occurred in practice.
First, on offense, the Lions’ wide receivers continue to dominate. DJ Chark and Josh Reynolds have had an excellent camp and they beat the defense over the top. Making big grabs, these two shows cased what the Lions’ offense can do over the top. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Kalif Raymond flashed again on the field with speed and burst. These two will be a problem for defenses in 2022. Jared Goff looked real good in one series going 4-5 and his only incompletion was from a batted ball by Michael Brockers.
The Defense did not perform well in this practice. The defensive backs were beaten handily by DJ Chark, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds, and Kalif Raymond. Jeffrey Okudah did decently but still needs work to be done. The only ball deflection that occurred was by nickel corner Chase Lucas who stopped a completion from Amon-Ra St. Brown. The second-string defense was improved against QB Tim Boyle.
On special teams, Jermar Jefferson had some good reps with pursing Kalif Raymond from a kickoff with a wood-be tackle. Lions news WR Maurice Alexander looks like a natural in the return game and has a shot to make the 53-man roster. The punt coverage continues to be a work in progress.
