Herman Moore Gives Predictions for Detroit Lions vs Eagles Week 1 Match-Up at Ford Field
Legendary Detroit Lions wide receiver Herman Moore gives his analysis, breakdown, and prediction for the Lions vs. Eagles Week 1 match-up. What key offensive match-ups are the Lions facing against the Eagles? Who will win the game? This article and video by Moore gives his assessment of this game.
Amon-Ra St. Brown vs. A.J. Brown
Moore gives the edge to A.J. Brown.
“This was a close battle but ultimately when I looked and broke down these two players, it was a close call, give it to A.J. Brown because he has been doing it longer and because of the fact he understands the pressure that comes with being the No.1 guy.”
DJ Chark vs. DeVonta Smith
In this matchup, Moore gives his edge to DeVonta Smith. Smith is no slouch, he has elite speed and burning ability to take the top off any defense. DJ Chark is new to the Lions and may take some time to become the deep threat the Lions need him to be.
Josh Reynolds vs. Quez Watkins
“The savior of the Lions” Josh Reynolds wins this matchup hands down.
His chemistry with quarterback Jared Goff is next to perfect. Reynolds got it done last year with the Lions as the featured receiver. In this game, he will be a supporting player still receiving the ball with a decent amount of targets. Wide receiver Quez Watkins just does not game the same amount of targets as Reynolds.
T.J. Hockenson vs. Dallas Goedert
Dallas Goedert is a solid T.E. for the Eagles but he is not as complete as T.J. Hockenson “he basically is a wide receiver who is a tight end because he runs routes like unbelievable” Hockenson is a matchup problem for any defense and is one of the best run-stuffing tight ends in the league. Hockenson wins this battle.
D’Andre Swift vs. Miles Sanders
RB D’Andre Swift is the better running back and the more reliable running back. Miles Sanders is questionable to play Sunday and has been consistently injured throughout his career. Swift can run out of the backfield, take passes as a receiving back, and has an elite breakaway ability. Edge goes to Swift.
Jared Goff vs. Jalen Hurts
This is a close battle between Goff and QB Jalen Hurts. Hurts can burn you with his legs and Goff can hurt you under center. Questions emerge about Hurst in the passing game and his ability to stay in the pocket. Goff gets the node for the batter QB in this game “If you look at the receivers, the commitment the Lions have made back into improving their receiving unite and bringing all the tools he needs, plus a healthy offensive line, Jared Goff is beaming with confidence”
Even though the Detroit Lions have multiple matchups and wins on offense, the defense is the issue. The Eagles are going against lower third NFL-ranked defense and have shown they can capitalize on the poor play. Lion’s offense will be competing against a much more improved defense and will be more difficult to overcome. Ultimately, the Eagles will win.
