Make-Or-Break Year For D’Andre Swift In 2022?
D’Andre Swift was drafted in the 2019 NFL draft in round 2 to become the Lions’ answer for running the football. So far in Detroit, he has a mixed bag regarding his career. With inconsistent play and being unable to stay on the field for all 17 games, this is a make-or-break year for the young running back. Swift must produce for the 2022 NFL season. With upgrades at the wide receiver position, one of the best offensive lines in football, and year 2 of the Dan Campbell regime, Swift must show his value.
D’Andre Swift has shown a burst of excellence with big plays, great hands out of the backfield, and mismatch for defenders. The problem for Swift has been health. The inability to be available on gameday has hurt his stock. The Lions have the capability to upgrade the running back position after this season with draft capital and free agency. The shelf life of a running back in the NFL is not long.
This season, Swift must take advantage of every opportunity to show his worth. Let’s give credit to Swift. Swift came to camp in phenomenal shape, clearly working hard this offseason. The coaching staff has enjoyed how well Swift took this offseason to become better as a player. Still, in 2022; Swift must stay off the field and perform with high expectations.
