Players Are Believing In Dan Campbell

The Detroit Lions started with a terrible record of one win and six losses for the season’s first seven games. This consistent losing combined with bad in-game decisions hurt this team to start the year. Questions were mounting regarding whether head coach Dan Campbell was the answer for the Detroit Lions.

However, the Detroit Lions now have been on a three-game winning streak, beating the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears, and the New York Giants— all of a sudden, the team looks great.

One of the big reasons the Lions have been winning for the past three weeks is the emergence of the young players. Rookie edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson has had two interceptions and two fumble recoveries, and has been a menace to opposing offenses. Rookie safety Kerby Joseph has had three interceptions, and has consistently shown he can cover the back end of the Lions’ defense.

Other contributors are second-year defensive tackle Alim McNeill, third-year player cornerback Jeffrey Okudah, and second-year player wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. For these young players to play well, they sure seem to have bought into what Campbell is preaching.

Legendary wide receiver Herman Moore and Mike Kimber from Lions Nation Unite talk below about how the players for the Lions believe in Campbell.

Herman Moore on Dan Campbell (4:15)

“They are buying into Dan Campbell’s culture, they are buying into his belief system, and they are buying into those that were draft picks of Brad Holmes.”

Moore continues, “This is validation for them to say we believe what is happening in the locker room.”

The Lions players are starting to believe and play to their fullest potential. That is what you want a head coach to do: bring out the best in players.

This team is fighting hard on every play and believes in the direction Campbell wants to go. The Lions will have a difficult test on Thanksgiving, hosting one of the best teams in the NFL; we will see if this team continues to battle for this coaching staff.
